"Black Roses" - Painkiller Hotel
It is simply commercial-grade, homogenized pop rock. My prediction is that it will be wildly popular in a year or two.
Alien Guitar Abduction - Bigfoot Lives!
Are aliens abducting guitars for interstellar rock experiments? Are alien guitars abducting humans for unnecessary and humiliating cavity searches? In the darkest recesses of my brain, I secretly hoped for the latter...

Brogdon, Justin (Justin Brogdon) Self Titled Album
You’ve got to have a lot of faith in yourself to self-title your album. After all, if no one knows your name, then who cares? I’m here to tell you that you should care about Justin Brogdon’s album

Broken Poets - Optimism in E Minor
From the moment I put this CD in to play, I liked it. Jim H. McDonald (vocals/guitars/bass) is a terrific songwriter. And he's got a fabulous voice.

Candlebox - Into the Sun
I’ve always thought Candlebox was an underrated band. Their songs are interesting and unique, their music powerful and Kevin Martin’s vocals are both musical and hard-hitting. So I was very excited to see that the band had reunited sans original bassist Bardi Martin who has been replaced by Adam Kury, and has released their first album in 10 years.

Every time I hear this album it kicks more and more ass.
deSol On My Way
You know how sometimes a song just reaches out and grabs you and you almost feel like you've heard it dozens of times and it's even known out of the box it's a great friend? The title song on this album "On My Way" is exactly like that. I didn't even want to listen to the rest of the album, I just wanted to set my CD on repeat for that song.

Smack dab in the middle between “blah” and “hell yes” of your dictionary is where you’ll find the word “eh”. Just kidding, you won’t. I don’t think. Nonetheless, it’s a great word for things like cornflakes, the color beige, and Dan Ferrari’s album “Don’t Let it Fall.

Further Down - 7 Years Hard Luck
In general, I like this album and the sound of Further Down. Their sound is reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynyrd or Nickelback with hints here and there of the bluesy rock of Tesla and The Black Crowes. They have a heavy guitar and heavy drum sound back up by a kickass piano. Make no mistake, this is southern rock.

I was definitely looking forward to listening to Lucky Day's newly released and second album, “Rise & Fall". Their press releases and website both promised reggae and psychedelic influences, so I figured I’d be happily surprised by a very different and eclectic sound.

Springfield, Rick (Rick Springfield) - The Early Sound City Sessions
If someone asked me when Rick Springfield's landmark album Working Class Dog was released, I would've pegged it at 1983. Songs like "Jessie's Girl" and "Don't Talk to Strangers" are such pure 1980's radio pop, after all.
