![]() | Thinmen - Nothing Like Our Picture | |
| Location | St. Paul, MN | |
| Initial Impression | Recycled '80s sound for a reason. Thinmen actually started out as an '80s cover band called Global Theatre. | |
| Notable Lyric | From "Colorblind (Can We Survive?)": "There was a dream, spoken to millions from hallowed ground of whitened stone foundations / We close our eyes / Can we survive without saying a word? / Can we survive without saying anything at all?" | |
| Factoid | There are over 170 radio stations playing their stuff. | |
| Serve With | Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, The Fixx. | |
| Comments | Hearing the '80s sound again after two decades made me cringe, but by the time I got to their cover of Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey" I found myself reminiscing about Hello Kitty lunchboxes and lime green jellies. Thinmen's fusion of alternative, rock, and pop will take you back. That said, I wonder how much fun their live shows would be - they have audience participation - if I were more into new wave. | |
