Thinmen - Nothing Like Our Picture
LocationSt. Paul, MN
Initial ImpressionRecycled '80s sound for a reason. Thinmen actually started out as an '80s cover band called Global Theatre.
Notable LyricFrom "Colorblind (Can We Survive?)": "There was a dream, spoken to millions from hallowed ground of whitened stone foundations / We close our eyes / Can we survive without saying a word? / Can we survive without saying anything at all?"
FactoidThere are over 170 radio stations playing their stuff.
Serve WithPeter Gabriel, David Bowie, The Fixx.
CommentsHearing the '80s sound again after two decades made me cringe, but by the time I got to their cover of Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey" I found myself reminiscing about Hello Kitty lunchboxes and lime green jellies. Thinmen's fusion of alternative, rock, and pop will take you back. That said, I wonder how much fun their live shows would be - they have audience participation - if I were more into new wave.
