| Location | Florida | |
| Initial Impression | This, according to the accompanying press release: "[Moonlight Survived] is richly melodic yet fraught with a potent, progressive edge." | |
| Notable Lyric | "These days are darker and they draw me in/I left a trail but no one missed me in the end." | |
| Factoid | Moments in Grace are indirectly connected to the inimitable Guy Picciotto twofold : the band is named after a song lyric from Guy's pre-Fugazi band and emo forefathers Rites of Spring, and these four young men are on the Atlantic Records imprint Salad Days, which is named after the Minor Threat song - the band Ian MacKaye fronted prior to starting Fugazi. By the way, Moonlight Survived is the label's initial release. | |
| Serve With | Emotion, passion. | |
| Comments | An ambitious album, Moonlight Survived showcases the four-piece's penchant for writing well-crafted, slightly atmospheric emo/post-hardcore compositions - the expansive vocal range of frontman Jeremy Griffith doesn't hurt any... There is a definite inherent sense of longing infused in this record, as it's rife with rather slow, dramatic, melancholy compositions like "My Stunning Bride", "We Feel the Songs", the brooding "No Angels", "Distant and Longing Light", and even the more upbeat and energetic "The Blurring Lines of Loss", to name a few. The opener, "Stratus", finds the band incorporating a string section, while the following composition, "The Patient" is a bit heavier and edgier - perhaps the most "hardcore" (I use the term loosely!) of the 12 tracks. | |
