Blacklisted - The Beat Goes On |
| Location | Philly |
| Initial Impression | Uh, it's on Deathwish. I think we know this is gonna be GOOD.
|
| Notable Lyric | "I need to be moving towards something/I need to be screaming for something/I need to be more understanding/I need to do more than standing."
|
| Factoid | Blacklisted previously released a collection of earlier material, We're Unstoppable (Deathwish), which along with ...The Beat Goes On, appeared in '05. The band promises to keep on being workhorses, as they've lots of touring and a new record planned for this year.

| Serve With | Terror, Bane, Give Up the Ghost.

| Comments | I don't know about you, but I always find it cool when bands have lyrics that match the power and intensity of the music. And Blacklisted certainly achieve this, what with their often introspective, contemplative, and just plain meaningful lyrics (see above...) coupled with aggressive, angry, oft-pounding hardcore. Perfect examples of the wondrous result of the marrying of the two are the stellar one-two punch of "I Refuse" and "Life Moves On", as well as "Brightest Son" and "Good Grief". And the band close out the record spectacularly with a bit of a different vibe in the form of the slower, somber, affectingly beautiful instrumental "Mother Theresa", which needs no words to convey its strikingly beautiful, melancholy emotion. |
