| Comments | Liz' greatest strength is the unabashed autobiographical
nature of her lyrics, which she touts in "Got My Own Thing" with the
line, "Don't have to say what I'm thinking 'cause everyone's got their
radios on and they've heard my latest song." Her songs clearly reflect
her life, as a divorced single mom with a modicum of pop-rock success,
and she makes no apologies for it. Hell, in "Why I Lie" (and you have to
adore the vulnerability in that title), she states "And 30 is not
too old," while on the title track, she admits to admiring and even
envying the bond of functional marriage. (My favorite bit of politically
incorrect, I don't play by your rules, line is above.) Old-school Liz
fans eviscerated her last album, and I'm not confident they'll be any
more generous this time around, but my guess is that Liz really isn't
all that concerned.
