![]() | Blue Ceiling - Tales From the Spiritual Lost and Found | |
| Location | NYC | |
| Initial Impression | Oh no, ANOTHER band with a touchy-feely message? | |
| Notable Lyric | From "Needle in a Haystack": "You say I'm not your type/But what's your gripe?/You probably don't know what you even like/I may not be no prize/But girl get wise/I think you better learn to compromise." | |
| Factoid | Songwriter and guitarist Eric Justice has written songs that range from grunge to rap to bluegrass. Lead singer Rene Collins used to be a circus acrobat and a stage actor. | |
| Serve With | Creed for the message & Hootie for the catchy melodies. | |
| Comments | Tales From the Spiritual Lost and Found is Blue Ceiling's sophomore CD. Singer Rene Collins says, "Our goal is to use music as a force for social and spiritual development," and that they do well, covering themes such as racism, third world politics, and spiritual awakening. Blue Ceiling is rock with a positive message. "Got to Be" is not your ordinary sugar-coated positive sound. I loved the reggae influence of "Needle in a Haystack". "2 Generations" is a song to help bridge the generation gap. You could practically see "I Hate this City when It Rains" playing in the background of the movie Unfaithful. Cool CD if you’re into rock-with-a-message. | |
