![]() | Proton Industries - The Cause | |
| Location | No earthly idea. | |
| Initial Impression | I first listened to the CD on headphones and had to stop because various pops and scratches felt akin to receiving shock therapy to my ears. | |
| Notable Lyric | There were no discrenable lyrics other than what sounded like a computer attempting to speak and possibly some backwards vocals (No, it didn't say "Paul is dead".) | |
| Factoid | An interesting quote from the linernotes: "The tones and frequencies are the infiltrators. We are the movement." | |
| Serve With | Anything but headphones. | |
| Comments | Someone recently accused me of not being a fan of techno/electronic music. Thus I'd like to premise this review by saying; I like "good techno." Proton Industries has the potential to churn out such a quality, specifically on "Porthole" and "Meson Speaks" which show promise; however my suggestions would be to gravitate away from the shorter loops, which seem overly repetitive, and at times give pause to check that the CD isn't skipping. In addition, there were some fuzzy, scratchy, pops (see previous comment about headphones), especially on "Recon: Unknown Force" that may or may not have been purposeful. I find that these only serve to raise the hackles - if this is the intention, mission accomplished. Beyond that, the concept, coupled with my previous suggestions and the incorporation of more "drum" tracks (such as can be found on "Going In"), they might have something. | |
