![]() | Silvertide - American Excess (EP) | |
| Location | Northeast Philly | |
| Initial Impression | Has anyone ever been arrested for impure thoughts? Good GOD are they young! | |
| Notable Lyric | "Mary Jane whisper in my ear, cuz you're the one that truly understands me." from "Mary Jane" | |
| Factoid | Silvertide found themselves signed to Clive Davis' J Records just after the bands one-year anniversary. | |
| Serve With | A fringy suede vest. Just go with it. | |
| Comments | Silvertide found me in a good mood and on the cusp of listening to some not-so-great CDs, so forgive my initial response to the music which was an uncensored... "Holy fuck!" The superb drumbeats and rhythmic guitars took me head-on into a Buck Cherry/Black Crows vocal with moments of the 70s greats (read: Robert Plant) without sounding like rip-off artists. The scatting on "Beware" literally caused me to pause and mouth "Wow" as I pondered how these young men could capture this sound so vividly with their own fresh take on everything that is wonderful in classic rock and roll. It's comfortably heavy rock that you just want to groove your ass too! And from what I understand their live show is pretty phenomenal as well. Go check these guys out! Trust me on this one! | |
