Buzz King - I’m Truly Sorry

by May Wiseman
April 2003

A toddler cries out of this album cover while flipping the bird to whomever chooses to look in his direction, while the flip side bares four ass cracks from the apparent band members. Since they put them up on display- the vocalist has a slight farmers tan and appears to be in competition with the guitar player on who will pull their pants down further, the drummer is appalled that he even has to take such a picture, and bares no tan, and the bass player- well he’s the bass player so he’s slightly more modest than the guitar player, but still a bit riskier than the drummer. Their line up of tunes to choose from are titled in tongue-in-cheek form- “I Shave My Pussy”, “Hollywood Is For Assholes”, “Oasis Blows”, “Jackin’ Off”, and “There’s A Junkie In The Band”. Hmm…you say? Hmm… I say!

The obscene choruses in some of these tunes really stay with the listener, played of course in a catchy melody so you’ll go around in the grocery store singing songs that are unacceptable in society like “Shave my pussy like a porno star” ("ISMP"), “I’m not worthy of someone so hip” ("I’m Not Worthy"). And other fun blurbs such as “Hollywood’s for assholes that need to play in metal bands” ("HFA"). “Watch out son, your mullet's begun to smoke, you’re too near the grill” ("Hot Dogs Is Good").

These people don’t care what they sing about, making the Buzz King lyrical content colorfully entertaining in a sick way. The music is predominantly a throwback of English guitar rock with heavy distortion, and steady rhythm. In fact, the music is actually really good. They know how to pull the vulgarity off with their sound. I would recommend this album if you’re into this kind of thing, which is anything but serious. Keep in mind that is not for those scared of a good ass spanking, or those looking for the greatest rock band in the world- and if you're easily offended, then turn your head if you should happen to be faced with “the toddler” flipping you off.
