Heth - Clean
LocationL.A. native that was thankfully transplanted to the much more aesthetically pleasing east coast – New York, New York.
Initial ImpressionI was lukewarm about Heth after the first track, "Falling Together". It was good, but not spectacular. I wanted to be "wowed". I got that on the second track – "My Headphones" is one of those tracks that literally made me stop what I was doing (which happened to be pilates) and really listen… Heth was definitely worth that.
Notable Lyric"My headphones still smell like your Chanel perfume… you left your Springsteen CD in my room. I miss your charges on my credit card, cause living without you is just too damn hard… My friends all hate your personality… it's not perfect but it's perfect for me" from Track 3, "My Headphones."
FactoidThis poor guy had to learn violin at age three. I have a two year-old who can barely hold a fork – can't imagine him holding a violin in a year.
Serve WithWhile I certainly enjoyed pilates much more with Heth's funky, 80's-inspired songs playing in the background, I can only recommend that anyone listening to Heth give him your undivided attention. Otherwise you just might be kicking yourself in five years when he's too big to pay attention to you.
CommentsHis vocal style varies from track to track, but I was often reminded of Bono during the early U2 days. Sometimes the 80's influence on his music was a bit too much for me, but overall I think that Heth has the right idea – write intelligent lyrics, come up with unique musical arrangements, then take all of that hard work and produce a damn good CD. That's exactly what Clean is. Damn good.
