Silverstein - When Broken Is Easily Fixed
LocationSouthern Ontario, Canada
Initial ImpressionMusic is a crunchy punk style, with hardcore vocals.
Notable Lyric“I caress flesh with severed nerves. I go veiled in darkness and disease. This November swallows me whole.”- "November"
FactoidThe band pays tribute to author Shel Silverstein, whom each band member read growing up. His works were all great influence on the members that chose to honor his name.
Serve WithA soured relationship.
CommentsLyrics woven with sadness, heartbreak, and loneliness backed with disgruntled vocal styles that scream out in anger to Silverstein listeners. The music uses crunchy guitar riffs that create a full-bodied sound since they use two guitar players (Neil Boshart/Josh Bradford). Subtle bass lines fill the empty voids during the breaks/choruses on all the songs (Bill Hamilton), also an on time rock drummer (Paul Koehler) that will prove pleasing to the genre and its youthful punk rock audience. “Giving Up”, “Last Days Of Summer”, and “Wish I Could Forget You” are excellent in timing and use a clean dynamic structure that suited the vocals (Shane Told)- even if they were screamed out in anger. At first the music made me think of the stale rankle rock scene that invaded airwaves two years ago, however after listening a few times, really grew on me and realized that the band possesses a quality unlike the other screaming bands that’s easily detectable – Silverstein seem to care about what they are doing.
