The Matter - 3-song EP
LocationNew York City
Initial ImpressionTheir press release says the band is "a child spawned from the depths of darkness, rock, and beer...with an insatiable desire to create unique sounds and inspire bastard children everywhere."
Notable Lyric"Throw me a bone and just like a good boy I am on it/Whoa here I go/I'm gonna bury it and no one will ever know/I've got you and I don't wanna share and want it for my own."
FactoidThis quartet, comprised of guitarists Nina Interlandi and Ian Bell, vocalist Derrick Mangroo, bassist Dave Roberts, and drummer Jeff Rohe, has previously released a 5-song EP and have a full-length release in the works. They have been influenced by an array of bands, including Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Jane's Addiction, Tool, the Cure, and Sonic Youth.
Serve WithBeer, leather, and plenty of attitude.
CommentsThis 3-song EP showcases The Matter's wild, energetic hard rock sound. "Alex Blake" is rowdy and a little quirky; the heavier, groove-filled "Sloe Jam" features raunchy, disoriented spoken vocals; while the final track, "Dog House" is gritty rock 'n' roll.
