![]() | Reuben - Dusk | |
| Location | I believe New York, but I can't say for sure - I had to look on his Website 'cause my disorganized ass couldn't find the press information in this scary office. | |
| Initial Impression | Cool artwork! (The CD is accompanied by a booklet or "Visual Companion" if you will, of artwork and various lyrics from Reuben's songs.) | |
| Notable Lyric | "Treat me like a service man. My duty is to service you." Heh heh... From "Service Man". | |
| Factoid | One of Reuben's music teachers was The Grateful Dead's original keyboarist, Tom Constantin. | |
| Serve With | A hug for yourself - you know, one of those where from the back it looks like someone's makin' out with you? | |
| Comments | The thing that sticks in my head the most is the "dat dat dats" in the vein of circus music which I can't seem to get out of my brain. Once I stop thinking about that, which is a rather fun and catchy little tune ("Do Something"), I find Reuben to be, over all, intelligent, jazzy, soothing, and upbeat, bringing to mind thoughts of sunshine, hanging with your best friend, riding down the road with the sun roof open and hair blowing in the breeze, carefree and happy - especially "Me & Rico", "Everyday", and "Let It Go". Some of the slighlty darker tracks, such as "Don't Believe", "Stay Awake", "Blackout Shame", and "Care of Myself" (which has a slight Prince edge to it), remain soulful and positive regardless of lyrical content. | |
