A Quickie with American Hi Fi's Drew Parsons

Cristy: What is your definition of 'happiness'?
  • Drew: Wow, philosophically or...? Um, being with the person I love.

Cristy: What is your guilty pleasure?
  • Drew: Video games.
Cristy: Do you have a favorite?
  • Drew: Everything. We just got a new soccer game. We're just total vid-idiots. At least Brian and I are. I was always pretty bad but then as soon as I got married, I figured I didn't have to impress women anymore - like it doesn't matter. My wife plays video games, so it's good.
Cristy: (laughing) I'm a geek, it doesn't matter.
  • Drew: It doesn't matter, embrace it.

Cristy: Who would play you in the film version of your life?
  • Drew: People always thought the guy on "Doogie Howser" looked like me, which I really hated. I think I'd rather be like Rick Shroeder. [that would be Neil Patrick Harris]
Cristy: That'd be alright. Hey, "NYPD Blue" thing -
  • Drew: I was thinking more of the Ricky Shroeder. He'd have to be called...
Cristy: You're thinking more of the "Silver Spoons" thing.
  • Drew: If he was gonna portray me, he'd have to be Ricky.
Cristy: Did you ever see him on "NYPD Blue"?
  • Drew: I have, and we just - he was just on a tv show we did the other day, he was one of the guests. I thought we were gonna meet him, and I guess he wanted to meet us as well, but I guess we were talking about "Silver Spoons" and how he should've come out on a train on the show. I'm worried he overheard us and didn't want to come meet us!

Cristy: Tell me about your first kiss?
  • Drew: It's funny, she works for a label now. She's one of my only friends that I went to school with that's in the music business. She was my sixth grade girlfriend. I remember sitting - my best friend was dating her best friend. You know how it happens in sixth grade. I remember skateboarding around and we went into the woods somewhere. We were sitting on my skateboard, making out. I think I wrote her name into my skateboard after that.

Cristy: Who's your favorite band that no one's ever heard of?
  • Drew: There are lots of them. Ash, I don't think anyone's ever heard of. People who don't know what Superdrag is are missing out on - In the Valley of Dying Stars is such an amazing record. There's a band called Loveless that are friends of ours out of New York, they're really great too.
