Quinn Keon - Second Attempt….Failure
LocationSt. Louis, Michigan (Hey, if we’re wrong, blame the presskit)
Initial ImpressionKimmie said “Woo hoo!” upon reading the word “metal and rock” in the description.
Notable Lyric“I see you there with your tight blue jeans, I see you smile at me, Fine looking girl the kind I like,” from "Better off Dead." (Awww Quinny, were you talking about us???)
FactoidHis band, First Amendment, delighted Tony Bongiovi with their song “Kill the Smurfs”. Apparently he said he could “make it a hit”. Unfortunately, we don’t get to hear it!!
Serve WithSome lyrics for the girl who inspired “Becky”.
CommentsWe flipped past the seven minute first track, mostly cuz it was instrumental (as well as “Cold Fusion”, “Becky”, and the more jazz-oriented “Six”). We were then greeted with aggressive metal riffs, but Lemmy-like caterwauling, while “Return To Me” comes complete with a can of Aqua-Net, based on the 80’s like vocals. Truth be told, Quinn Keon looks NOTHING like you’d expect from this CD, resembling Gary Neumann (ala “Cars”) more than Dee Snider or Billy Sheehan. “Ellen” takes a more punk approach, which Kimmie finds much more agreeable. Although we’re ragging on this album quite a bit, more because it was unexpected than due to any quality deficits, we’re fairly sure there’s a great deal of ass-shaking happening at the live show. From what we can see, Quinn’s got a nice torso under that shirt and that’s always good for some female swooning.
