| Comments | Five tracks of smacked around, crunchy, purebred rock ’n’ roll. Drummer Seth Kasper is incredibly tight, masterfully timed, and makes music that would mull around on a college radio station and stand out for originality. The guitar work does not overwhelm and seems to keep time with rich bass lines (vise/versa). A few of the tracks like “Nonsense”, “Seven Up”, and “Sunshine” borderline on classic punk in the lyrical sense or even basic three chord riffs, however are too structured for the genre. “Soft Touch” uses that accordion-type sound toward the end that’s become so fond in power pop jigs- this effect creates a lot of texture for an otherwise boring conclusion. And there’s a hidden track about 2:59 minutes into the last song- freaky sound blurbs to show off a few more sporadic effects. One last thing- while scooping up info from the web site, I decided to check out their live pics. Energy exudes these shots from their live shows, so if you’re in the area, and like to see a good show, it’s safe to say you can’t go wrong here. | |
