Will Bowen - Between the Lines
LocationCleveland, Ohio
Initial ImpressionThat took longer than expected because for some dope-ass reason, I couldn’t get the shrinkwrap off the CD. When The Village Buzz’ Sergio IM-ed me with “You heard Will Bowen?”, I took the hint. So, through the magic of cyberspace, we simultaneously listened and commented to one another. (Don’t ya just wish you had that transcript??)
Notable Lyric“There’s something 'bout dreaming that brings us all down,” from "Six Feet Deep."
FactoidHe’s 17 years old people. What do you think they’re feeding the youngsters in northeast Ohio these days?

CommentsAccording to Will’s website, he initially entered the studio to record an acoustic EP, but emerged with a full-length album, thanks in part to the veteran musicians he picked up along the way including Joe Rahan, Tom Prebish, Jeff Nagel and Curtis Leonard. Although Bowen’s voice belies his recent post-pubescent countenance, his lyrics and hesitancy reek of his early position on the life learning curve. There are shining moments, such as “Wondering” with its great Irish tinge, and overall it’s an above-average rookie effort. (It’s almost impossible not to create something worthy with his supporting musicians, and Mike Farley guiding his career.) So tack on a couple of heartbreaks, a few disappointments, perhaps one major disillusionment and Will will be more than fine – he’ll be ready to knock John Mayer off his throne.
