![]() | Jet - Dirty Sweet EP | |
| Location | Melbourne, Australia | |
| Initial Impression | Looks like a group of unwashed young guys jumping on the garage band circuit without the The in their name. | |
| Notable Lyric | "Cold Hard Bitch" really says it all, doesn’t it? | |
| Factoid | The Rolling Stones nabbed these guys to open for them on their Australian tour. | |
| Serve With | Early Rolling Stones, The Who, even a young Aerosmith. | |
| Comments | They’re raw, they’re gritty, they need a shower and a shave – they even look like they should be British (they’re Australian, go figure). More than anything, Jet reminds me of when rock was messy and unpolished, before the clichés, when drugs weren’t addictive and STD’s were cured with a shot of penicillin. Once arriving in the States, I’m sure they’ll be lumped in with all the bands operating under the new ‘garage band’ label because it seems easier to put someone in a categorical box, but that would do Jet a huge disservice to their obvious influences and style. Hell, they’re even smiling in their publicity photo – when was the last time you saw a self-important rock demi-god do THAT?! | |
