A Quickie with Mick Leonardy of Divit
Janelle: What is your definition of 'happiness'?
- Mick: Happiness is love. I think happiness is acceptance and forgiveness. I think happiness is grace. I think happiness is when you can look at the people around you and truly appreciate what you have around you. I believe that happiness is being comfortable with who you are and where you stand and what you believe in and being firm in that. Happiness is just doing what you love and doing what you believe in and succeeding in it only because you have that drive and that's what keeps you going. I don't know; I could go on and on forever. I think family, friends, just relationships in your life that mean a lot to you and holding on to them and investing in them, and making sure that they grow into a bigger, better relationship and to be a bigger and better part of your life. Happiness for me personally is spirituality. Everyone has their own way of getting to that state of mind, but I don't know. I'm babbling.
Janelle: What's your guilty pleasure?
Mick: I smoke cigarettes, but I'm trying to quit. And I have to admit, I think Good Charlotte is probably the best band I've ever heard in my life [sarcasm, my friends!].
Janelle: Who would play you in the film of your life?
Mick: Ooh that's a toss-up between Christian Slater and - I'd say either Christian Slater or who else could I see playing me? Actually, I would say Christian Slater, Christian Slater hands down. Hands down. I love that guy.
Janelle: Tell us about your first kiss.
Mick: My first kiss ever was actually embarrassingly enough in high school. Like my first real kiss was in my room with this girl - I don't remember what grade I was in - I think I might have been a freshman or a sophomore, probably a sophomore. I think it was sophomore year in high school and it was upstairs in my room and my parents were gone and they let this girl stay over with me to hang out and we made out in my room, and it was the raddest thing in the world. I remember going, 'Oh my God,' and I remember saying, 'I do not wanna stop,' and she was like, 'That's enough,' and I was like, 'No, dude. You don't understand this is like the coolest thing in the world.' So, it stopped eventually but I'll never forget it, dude. That was my first kiss.
Janelle: Who is your favorite band no one has heard of?
Mick: My favorite band that no one has heard of? Well, I'm sure someone's heard of 'em. Ok I got one. Instruction. No one's heard of 'em. They're brand new. They're amazing. They're probably one of the best bands in the market right now. They're from your neck of the woods; they're from New York. [Comprised of three guys from Errortype: 11 and guitarist Tom Capone from Quicksand].
