Hoods - Pray For Death
LocationSacramento, CA
Initial Impression*giggles* The CD tray shows the band members mugging in "Billy Bob" teeth. You sure do got a purdy mouth...
Notable Lyric"I'm stronger now that I have you," the one uplifting moment, found in "By My Side."
FactoidGuitarist Mike Hood runs a venue called Westcoast Worldwide, a record label, as well as being the leader of Hoods. Another point of interest is that the cover art was done by Sean Taggert, and apparently that's a big deal.
Serve WithAn interpreter. But hey, at least there are lyrics.
CommentsAt first, I just groaned when I put Pray For Death in the player; all hardcore tends to sound the same to me. The music is similar to heavy metal, but the inarticulate vocals completely disinterest me. This album is extremely heavy, with double-bass drums and bass that pops. There's obviously a lot of built-up anger, with such lyrics as "I hate you with all my heart you motherfucker" ("John And Kitty"), "Tired of being depressed, I hope you all fucking die" ("Days In Hades"), and the uplifting "I want to watch you kill yourself" ("On The Way To San Francisco"). I really liked the intro to "I Own You"; I was hoping for a foray into melodic metal, but alas, this was not to be. What was to be was a foray into hardcore punk, on such songs as "E Pugne Limpio" and "5455." Other times, such as "On The Way To San Francisco," it was hard just hard to sit through.
