![]() | Mother - State Your Intention | |
| Location | Seattle | |
| Initial Impression | Is this Christian rock? | |
| Notable Lyric | "Blistered hands burning earth collision It's the festival the mystery of sunshine pillars break a shadow for the drinking Close your eyes to cut the rising ribbon Open up this gift you will never close it again Once tasted addicted you never close it again." - "Time of Beauty" | |
| Factoid | They released a single along with their debut CD, State Your Intention. They had more time to experiment with layered tracks on their two-song single. | |
| Serve With | REM, Spacehog | |
| Comments | I was going to slam Mother because I thought they were a Christian rock band but I've changed my mind for two reasons: One, they are NOT a Christian rock band but a band that strives to promote political and social justice issues and two, their new two-song single. Their single gives them direction and a sound that State Your Intention lacks. Don't tell anyone but I found "Who Speaks for God" strangely erotic. Thank you, Seattle, for Ivars and Mother! (P.S. I was just kidding about the Christian rock band-thing.) | |
