The 40 Year-Old Virgin Soundtrack |
| Location | Across Space and Time.
|
| Initial Impression | Woo Hoo!
|
| Notable Lyric | "Hello again, is it me you're looking for" by Lionel Richie. If
you've seen the movie, you know why!
|
| Factoid | The writer of this film, Judd Apatow, also created cult
favorites "Freaks and Geeks" and "Undeclared". He also seems to have the
same attitude toward music in his movies as Cameron Crowe.
. |
| Serve With | DVDs of "Freaks and Geeks" and "Undeclared" - duh!
|
| Comments | Joe Walsh, Michael McDonald, Smokey Robinson, Asia, James
Brown, Chaka Khan, the aforementioned Lionel Richie, Dr. Hook, Flock of
Seagulls, Corey Hart, and Survivor: just the list of artists has to
rouse your curiosity, doesn't it? The 40 Year-Old Virgin is funny
but smart, and Steve Carell (Anchorman) brings a humanity to the
title character's plight that is both unexpected and wonderful. The
soundtrack is no different. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, you
can't help but smile at "Virgin Man", "Sharing the Night Together", and
"The Search is Over" (one of the top 10 cheesiest songs of all time),
and at the same time sing along.
