Our Lady Peace - Healthy In Paranoid Times
|
| Location | Canada
|
| Initial Impression | What is this P.O.S. DRM (Digital Rights Management
aka. Copyright Protection) program on this disc?!
|
| Notable Lyric | “This is for everything we had; it’s the good and it’s the bad;
it’s the state of love and trust; this is for you, this is for us.”
|
| Factoid | Earlier in 2005, OLP asked their fans to submit questions and
the band utilized podcast technology to answer the inquiries. (Think we
can get them on Siren
Rebellion?)
. |
| Serve With | A big Thank-You note to OLP for some much needed musical
therapy.
|
| Comments | I listened to this record the day after I lost my Big
Brindle Boy Charlie, and somehow it was the perfect salve for my
broken heart. From strangely optimistic tunes like “Where Are You?” to
the anger in “Wipe That Smile Off Your Face”, I was buoyed through the
constant emotional depth of OLP’s music and lyrics. The yearning of
“Picture” and “Apology” captured my grief, “Love and Trust” and “The
World on a String” reminded me of Charlie’s transcendent companionship,
and “‘Don’t Stop” allowed me to wallow in my loss. The fact I was able
to extract what I needed from Healthy... despite its creators’
intent elevates it from being just a mere pop record to a piece of art.
