The Dandy Warhols - Odditorium or Warlord of Mars
|
| Location | Portland, Oregon
|
| Initial Impression | ARRRRGH, there’'s a photo of Courtney Taylor-Taylor
with Simon LeBon of Duran Duran in the liner notes!
|
| Notable Lyric | "Paid off our house and then it fell into the ocean, grown up
quicker and handlin' my liquor" - "Smoke It"
| | Factoid | Courtney is in the top of five my "Music-Related Folks I Want
to Interview" list. |
| Serve With | Whatever drugs
they were taking when they made the album. They must be primo.
|
| Comments | "Smoke It" is a perfect first single, and "Down Like Disco"
will make a great follow-up, but there is just some strange shit on this
disc. For example, What the hell is with the spacey, drawn-out
instrumental thing at the end of "Love is the New Feel Awful" and
"There Is Only This Time"? The moral of this story is: Don't Let Your
Eccentric Lead Singer Produce Your Record. However, The Dandy's are such
cool cats, and Courtney is wearing such a bitchin' flight attendant
uniform in the liner notes that it's hard not to forgive them.
