![]() | The Revolution Smile - Above The Noise | |
| Location | Sacramento, CA | |
| Initial Impression | A great full sound, one that could lead them along the path of aggressive alternative acts like Foo Fighters and labelmates Puddle of Mudd. | |
| Notable Lyric | "You're holding me down" from opener "Bonethrower." Made notable because it's said sixteen times. Yes, I counted. | |
| Factoid | The band is currently on the lookout for a new drummer. Too bad, because their former one (Jeremy White) did a fine job on this album. | |
| Serve With | I think serving this band up on a movie soundtrack wouldn't be too far-fetched. | |
| Comments | About the band: vocalist/guitarist Shaun Lopez is formerly of the band Far; they've toured Europe with The Deftones and A Perfect Circle and played on this year's Ozzfest; their video for "Bonethrower" is getting airplay on MTV2. Musically, they're not a straight-up, easily categorized band. Slight experimentations in vocals and arrangements, as well as a slight dose of electronica thrown in, give them an "alternative" spin, while the earnest emotions and thumping drums carry the "hard rock" theme. The album starts off with a harshness that perhaps belies the balance heard on the rest of the tracks, and ends on a note a tad weak... but overall I'd say they could have a few singles off this album. | |
