Kenin – Just Another Blast |
| Location | Washington, D.C. |
| Initial Impression | I always read the liner notes and lyrics of a CD I'm covering. Doesn't everyone do this? In this case I've decided Kenin should include a few aspirin for messing with the trained eye's habit of reading left to right. Of course I know that CD booklets aren't cheap to print, so squashing the songs together side-by-side might have been the only option. I'll try not to hold it against them. |
| Notable Lyric | "You're not the one I was with tonight. But I wish it was you." – "Phone, Keys, Wallet" (Like MILK, only different.) |
| Factoid | The CD was engineered by Joe Blaney of Blue's Traveler, The Clash, Prince and Keith Richards fame. Impressive… They've also shared the stage with Better Than Ezra (Kimmie pauses for a heavy sigh in BTE's honor). |
| Serve With | A breezy outdoor venue on a blanket under the stars with a fist full of draft beer. |
| Comments | Okay, I admit it. I'm a sucker for good melodies, harmonizing, and story telling. I've fallen head over heels with many a lyricist, regardless of looks or personality, simply because he was great on paper. I'm not fickle, but I'm addicted to that feeling in the pit of the tummy that can be achieved by a really good song, and if the cards are properly laid out, I'll dance. Enter Kenin's well-written words encircled with all the aforementioned traits. The jury is still out, but I have a strong feeling a few more spins of this CD and I'll be in love again. So maybe I am fickle… But who cares! |
