![]() | Various - This Is Solid State Volume 4 | |
| Location | Everywhere | |
| Initial Impression | What are these white boys so pissed off about? | |
| Notable Lyric | You can’t be serious (see note below) | |
| Factoid | Figure Four’s video “Kill and Deceive” contains a little boy wearing a Cleveland Browns shirt. | |
| Serve With | An endless supply of throat lozenges. | |
| Comments | When you slog through this much material, certain patterns begin to appear. For example, the obligatory “performance” shots. We have a band in a warehouse, outside a deserted building, in a laundromat, an empty parking garage, another one in a field, four bands using actual live footage, and one band strapped themselves to chairs. Secondly, the screaming. I actually have a note that reads “Just not cool - someone will blow a vocal chord” if that gives any indication to the severity of the problem. Stand outs include Dead Poetic ("The Corporate Enthusiast”), Underoath (“The Changing of Times” and “When the Sun Sleeps”), Beloved (“Only Our Faces Hide” and “Aimless Endeavor”), Living Sacrifice (“Symbiotic”), and MeWithoutYou (“Bullet to Binary”). Video originality goes to Demon Hunter for the tree/tie-wearer voodoo analogy and statement against cubicle life, Beloved’s drummer for wearing an 80's headband and polo shirt with the collar up, and Stretch Armstrong for showing life on the road and a canned food drive for charity. Huge points to Underoath for the keyboards. | |
