![]() | Electric Turn To Me - Clouds Move So Fast | |
| Location | Brooklyn, NY | |
| Initial Impression | From what I remember of their prior release, impressive goth-tinged rock with lush vocals. | |
| Notable Lyric | "Seeing things that no one wants to see/I'm glad I'm not your enemy" | |
| Factoid | The band formed in 2002 and features members from The Mars Volta (Blake Fleming), Laddio Bolocko (Marcus DeGrazia), and The Imaginary Numbers (James Wilk), as well as a German chanteuse (Silke). | |
| Serve With | Lots of black eyeliner, a dance floor decorated with candelabras. | |
| Comments | As on their debut EP that came out earlier this year in June, with Clouds Move So Fast - a five-song offering - ETTM showcase their unique, intriguing style that's comprised of moody guitar riffs and interesting organ parts which add to the mysterious, dark feeling that is central to the foursome's signature sound. And what can be said of Silke's extraordinary vocals? The woman's powerful, affecting voice completes the picture brilliantly. And once again, the band mixes up tempos and tones as on their previous four-song s/t EP. For instance the excellent opener "Pick Up the Trail" is upbeat yet quite eerie in its own right, while "Cornelius" is slower and more subdued as is the light finale, the beautiful "One Second". "20 Eyes in the Car" is the poppiest offering on the EP and "Wrestle with Me Angel" is pretty damn scary, conjuring up thoughts of their even more frightening "First Crimes" off their debut. Excellent. | |
