| Location | Rochester, NY | |
| Initial Impression | Is this Spiritualized? | |
| Notable Lyric | "Turn around, then you're gonna face yourself." | |
| Factoid | Band members Gregory Paul (vocals, guitar, electronics) and Aaron Boucher (drums) began working together as the shoegazer-style outfit Stillmotion, and in 1998 founded themselves as the duo the Gregory Paul Group. | |
| Serve With | Lying on the grass staring up at the trees in a lush park. | |
| Comments | It starts out all dissonant, like an orchestra warming up, very similar to the beginning of Spiritualized's Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. Then it changes completely. You are suddenly driving along and loving this second track, which has real steady movement to it in the same way that track seven does. Track nine is a simple guitar song with the sounds of some work going on in the background, sort of like the song is being put together at that moment, but in a good way. It sounds like that first take that's incredible but you just didn't capture it. There is definitely a notable Brit-pop influence on the entire album, which works well for them. The vocalist has a great style, which soars beautifully in the way Supergrass vocalist, Gaz Coombes, sings. This album is a recommended listen for it's ethereal and multi-layered sound. They'd do well opening for a UK band in the near future. | |
