Do You Need To Relocate To "The Big City" in Order to Make It?

by Bobby Borg, author of "The Musician's Handbook"

Living in one of the larger cities will present you with more opportunities to meet other musicians and make you more accessible to record company executives who may be interested in signing your band. On the other hand, there’s more competition in larger cities and you can get lost in the sauce. You may be able to create a big enough wave in your small town to entice the record companies to come to you. Record company representatives and scouts check local music papers, surf the web for MP3 files, and review college radio play lists. If your band is really good and has something to offer, the record companies will find you regardless of where you are.
